Peaky Climbers are King of the Mountains
27th November 2017
DAY 4 OF OUR KING OF THE MOUNTAINS CHALLENGE WAS INCREDIBLE.
The previous 3 days in the Pyranees were exceptional. The weather was atrocious, but the climbs and the team spirit were absolutely world class.
Day 4 was a day we had all been nevrvous about from as far back as day 1 of the planning meetings. We woke this morning feeling no different – today was going to be the toughest of our lives whilst riding a bike.
The day 4 blog captures everything perfectly, the book due out in March 2018 will do more of the same. But suffice to say, we all completed the 3 climbs in one day and offically became members of the crazy CINGLES club.
We have now received our official cards back, together with the rare medals.
Only 11,500 or so men have completed this…so it’s an incredible achievement. I doubt many have completed it after the hard 3 days previously!
Homage to the great Tom Simpson of course, as you can see with the photo to the left of Nobby and Cricky.
It was the 50th anniversary of his death as he attempted the climb in the Tour de France.
We loved it…we may be back for more…watch this space.!
Next week…7,000+ feet of climbing in Wales!!!
We are raising £30,000 for BRITISH Lung Foundation and Caring Cancer Trust
