LEJOG 2019

The Event

9 Days  1000 Miles

2 Men, plus friends, plus their 2 wonderful wives

7th April 2019

Written by JB

I got the main part of the route from this book which we then adapted from a 14 day ride to a 9 day ride. We decided to stay at B&B’s and my wife Mandy and G’s wife Anna very kindly offered to drive cars in support.

To give an idea of the daily routine here’s the distances and amount of climbing each day! Just to keep up my reputation as the Stato of the team!

A typical day is planned to look like this:

  • 07.00 – Breakfast;
  • 08.00 – Start Ride;
  • 10.00 – Coffee;
  • 12.30 – Lunch;
  • 13.30 – Ride;
  • 15.30 – Coffee;
  • 17.30 – Arrive at hotel;
  • 19.30 – Dinner, wine and beers!

The Team

So the team keeps changing a little and we still have some last minute adjustments as we get closer but so far this the plan:

Note: As you’ll see 3 Peakies are missing due to injury and other commitments. Macca is still not able to ride regularly due to the injury sustained in the KOM event, hope you get better soon mate! Plus obviously not having Ben (or my son as he calls me Dad) not there wont be the same but there will be other events don’t worry Ben!

Support – I want say a huge thank you to both Mandy and Anna for offering to drive the cars for us we couldn’t do this without you! In addition Karen (Tim’s wife) Charlotte and Abbie (my daughters) are also coming to Scotland to support us so thank you too!

So another 6 months training (7-10 hours per week) completed and feeling good and ready to go, wish us luck!
