The Event
I got the main part of the route from this book which we then adapted from a 14day ride to a 9 day ride. We decided to stay at B&Bs and my wife Mandy and G’s wife Anna very kindly offered to drive cars in support.

King of the Mountains – Day 7
The team woke somewhat weary after an uber challenging previous day. The team skipper was in a really bad way this morning. After yesterday’s exertions climbing the Crois de Fair, Macca’s knees were shot.

King of the Mountains – Day 6
After a what seemed a very short but good nights sleep interrupted only by the regular bells of the local church we packed cases in the vans and headed on our bikes to a restaurant owned by the hotel for breakfast.

The now familiar 6.30 alarm call arrived sooner than we wanted and it wasn’t long before the groans could be heard but only turned out to be Macca’s realisation that he wouldn’t be spending his 50th Birthday lazing by a pool with family and a bottle of wine.

Today was a big day for more than just the reason we were here climbing Mount Ventoux 3 times. It was Simon and Nicky Haly’s 25th wedding anniversary and today was one hell of a day to celebrate.

Day 2 started with 6:30am alarm calls sounding across the hotel and outside the sound of heavy rain lashing down. After a positive day 1 the Peaky Climbers were straight on it, packing vans up with kit as it was hotel base change over day.
